S2S adds Executive Director in Charlotte to advance its innovative approach to ending situational homelessness through direct partnerships with the multifamily housing industry.
VIENNA, Va. – June 30, 2021–Shelters to Shutters (S2S), a national non-profit that transitions individuals and families from homelessness to economic self-sufficiency through partnerships with apartment companies, announced today that Jackie Campbell has joined the organization as Executive Director for its Charlotte operations. In her role, Campbell will work to strategically grow the program in Charlotte to become a premier employment and housing placement agency for individuals and families at risk of or facing homelessness.
Campbell comes to S2S with over 25 years in the real estate industry where she successfully managed both the residential and commercial sectors including office, retail, industrial, and multifamily assets. More recently she served as the Executive Director for the Western North Carolina Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for the past 15 years. IREM is an international organization providing learning, certifications, and networking that property managers need to gain knowledge to manage properties across any asset class. During this time, she was also a founding member and Executive Director for REstart Western North Carolina, a nonprofit organization that provides individuals caught in the cycle of poverty, unemployment, and domestic violence the opportunity to have a second chance in life through career training and opportunities in property management.

With her leadership and the support of the Charlotte City Advisory Board, we will establish our organization as a key community partner providing a life changing hand up to a growing at-risk population in the area,” said David Williams, Shelters to Shutters’ President and CEO.
S2S partners with over 40 apartment management companies to place people experiencing homelessness in onsite, entry-level jobs, and provide them with housing at the same communities where they work. S2S provides each participant with career mentoring and access to support services to ensure a successful long-term transition. S2S works with multiple homeless-focused non-profits to identify suitable job applicants. The program changes the lives of individuals and families while providing quality, motivated employees for a rapidly growing industry in need of talent.
“This integrative approach of partnering directly with multifamily communities to offer both stable employment and affordable housing provides individuals a lasting way out of homelessness, while simultaneously helping the real estate industry’s need for entry level talent. This is a tremendous opportunity to change the trajectory of people’s lives and I’m delighted to be part of the leadership team advancing the mission of ending situational homelessness in Charlotte.” said Campbell.
