Before coming to Entryway, Paul found himself bouncing from place to place without a home of his own. At his lowest point, Paul was living out of a van struggling to find an opportunity to get out of his situation and provide for himself and his kids. He knew he had to make a change when he suddenly became the sole custodian of his 12-year-old and 8-year-old sons. Paul and his sons moved into a one-bedroom apartment with a relative who gave him three months to find work and move out.
Paul made the decision to enroll in the workforce training program at Goodwill Industries of North Georgia. The program gave him a routine and stability for the first time in his life. Paul quickly obtained his GED and enrolled in Goodwill’s Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAM-T) certification course. After passing the certification test, Paul learned about Entryway and our partnership with Goodwill Industries. He applied to the program and began working with April Cline, Entryway Atlanta Executive Director.
Paul was quickly hired by IRT Living as a full-time Maintenance Technician and provided with a two-bedroom apartment to live on site with his sons. CORT delivered new furniture for the apartment, and his sons moved into their own room with bunk beds. Also, the apartment is on a school bus stop, so the kids can catch the bus to school from where they live.
On September 5, 2022, Paul celebrated his one-year hire anniversary with IRT Living and graduated from the Entryway’s 12-month program.
Congratulations, Paul!
